TALLER POSTS |
8' posts come standard, in some cases you may need a
taller post such as a 10' or 12'. When you fill out the free
quote make a note in the comments box that you would like 10' or
12' posts. We carry 8', 10' and 12' posts, you will have to
cut your posts down if you need a different length. For
example: say you need a 9' post, from 8' the next size up is 10' so
you will have to cut a 10' down to get the desired 9'.
Reasons you will have to cut your posts:
During installation you will almost definitely have to cut your
posts to height, even if you only have 8' posts more than likely
they will need to be cut. There are a couple reasons you may
have to cut your posts. One reason is that almost all slabs
have a slope to them and this slope has to be accounted for by
modifying the height of your posts. Height of the post is also
modified if you need a different length posts than we have in
standard lengths. For example: say you need a 9' post, from 8' the
next size up is 10' so you will have to cut a 10' down to get the
desired 9'.

ROUND COLUMNS |

Decorative Round Columns look very nice and are quite
popular. The installation of a Round
Column is recommended for experienced Do It Yourselfers only.
The Round Columns are decoration only, they are hollow and a
3" square post is required inside of the column to meet the engineering
requirements. The 3" square post
that goes inside the Column holds all structural value.
Note: We only ship Round Columns to the West Coast, the
Columns are very heavy and have problems with freight damage when
they are shipped long distances where they get handled several times
by different shipping terminals.

LEDGER WRAP |
| The Ledger Wrap is a 1-1/2" x 7-1/2" "C"
Channel piece of Alumawood
material that can be optionally purchased to be placed over the 2" x
8" Douglas Fur Ledger Board; the Ledger Board is what the rafters
are attached to at the house. The 2" x 8" Douglas Fur Ledger
Board is not included with the kit; you will need to purchase this
locally at any Home Center. The Ledger Wrap will make your Ledger
Board look like part of
the Alumawood system; the Ledger Wrap is an option to the kit because some customers prefer to
have the Ledger Board the same color as the house so it blends in with the
wall. Note: The Ledger Board will need to be primed and
painted both sides regardless if optional Ledger Wrap is used.
