The installation of a ceiling fan on the awning no matter how it is installed VOIDS all warranties.  The awnings are not designed for them and should not be used, we recommend a high quality box fan (note: box fan cannot be attached or hung from the awning either).  The reason the ceiling fan voids the warranty is because the motor creates a harmonic hum that will with time work all of the screws loose causing the awning to possibly collapse.  Also ceiling fans can become out of balance especially outside because of wind, wind will push on the blades giving side force throwing the balance of the fans off.  I am sure you have seen an out of balance ceiling fan in your home, that severe of a  vibration can cause major damage or injury.
