Some, more technical installations will obviously require more tools; if you have any questions on what tools you will need for your specific job we can supply that information to you. Most of the tools used to install the patio covers, pergola lattice covers and traditional patio covers are tools that can be purchased at any home center, and most homeowner have most if not all the tools needed.
Measuring Tape: This is the most important tool, make sure you have a good tape measure.
Ladders: Having more than one ladder makes installation much easier so you're not having to move the ladder back and forth.
- Drill: Can be corded or cordless, cordless is preferred but not necessary.
The drill will be used for securing all of the fasteners both sheet metal and self tapping hex head screws and lag bolts.
Much of the installation will be based around the drill. The hex head drivers and drill bits will be needed as well.
Chop Saw: with a fine tooth blade (32 teeth or more) works for cutting the aluminum, posts need to be cut to height, side fascia's and front fascia need to be trimmed and the chop saw makes a nice factory looking cut.
Caulking Gun (except on the pergola lattice covers)
- Plumb Bob
- Chalk Line
- Carpenters Pencil
