Classic Design

The carports are a classic design from the 1960s. The cover uses a W-style roof panel; this “W” gives the panel structural strength to span large distances, allowing the cover to project over the vehicle you want to store.

Materials

The roof panels secure into the gutter at the end of the projection, and a downspout is included that will run down the post; so you can attach the cover to your house water that runs off of your homes roof will run down the roof panel, into the gutter, and down the downspout.

The support posts are 3″ x 3″ and have a cloverleaf shape, indented on all four sides, which adds strength to the post, resisting downward and side shear loads so your cover will withstand strong winds.

The posts set directly under the gutter, acting as the header, or a setback beam can be used. A setback beam allows the posts to be set on your concrete slab and extends the cover past the header beam, giving you more shade and rain protection.

How do I attach the Carport?

Attaching the carport to your home is easy; the hanger, lag bolts, flashing, and caulking are included; you can attach it to the wall, fascia board, or rooftop with a ledger board. Freestanding is also an option if you don’t want to connect it to your home. The freestanding cover posts are sunk into footings to give them the shear strength to sustain high winds. An attached cover can bolt down to the concrete using the house for shear strength.
