How to easily measure the size of your patio cover in just minutes.

Determine the projection of the patio cover from the house and measure its length along your house. Simply follow the instructions below, and if you need any assistance, feel free to give us a call at 800-531-5994.

Here are three easy steps to get accurate measurements.

1.) Patio projection: Measure from the attachment point on your house to where you want the cover to end. This will determine the size of the cover projecting out from your home.

2.) Patio length: Measure the distance along your home where you want the cover to start and end.

3.) Patio height: Measure the height where the cover attaches to the house, keeping in mind that the post height will be slightly shorter due to the slope of the cover. If you want some wiggle room, ordering slightly longer posts and trimming them on-site is always a good idea.

The pergola lattice covers are measured the same way as the solid covers.

Pergola projection: The rafter length from attachment point to the end of the rafter is the projection.

Pergola length: The length of the pergola is the length of the lattice tubes and the header beam.

How to measure for Freestanding covers.

Freestanding projection: With a freestanding cover the projection runs across the two beam lines. The solid covers roof panels span across the two beam lines, and on the pergola covers the rafters span across the beams.

Freestanding length: The length of the cover is the direction of the header beams.

Do I include my eave overhang with my projection?

No, you only measure from the point where you are attaching. If you are attaching it to your fascia board, you will measure from the face of the fascia board where the hanger will be installed to the end of the covered area you want. Do not include the Eave/Fascia projection on your house; only measure from where the Awning will be attached.

My wall is not straight; how do I measure?

If you have an offset wall, bay window, chimney, or other obstacle, you can measure the general area for your cover and let us know in your comments that you have something a little different.

Alternatively, you can create a simple overhead sketch to show your dimensions and attach it to your quote. Feel free to call us and discuss your area if you are unsure. You can also email your sketch to us, at sales@try-tech.com or text to 530-362-4247.
